Mission Statement of the WFCC (Wake Forest Catholic Community)

Called by our baptism, we, the students of the Roman Catholic Community of Wake Forest University, are committed to live as disciples of Jesus Christ and bearers of His Gospel in our world.

We are committed to proclaim our belief in the sanctity of all human life.

We advocate for peace and justice and the care of all God’s creation.

Dedicated to the Corporal and Spiritual works of Mercy we believe that charity and service are at the heart of Jesus’ message.

We believe that the holiness of God is revealed in all His works and we center our prayer, our lives and our mission in His Church and especially in His revealed presence in the Holy Eucharist.

We joyfully live the Gospel and welcome all people of good will to join in our community according to the dictates of their conscience and the teachings of the Church.

The WFCC is a recognized student organization of Wake Forest University.  It abides by all the directives and expectations of WFU.

What is the Wake Forest Catholic Community?

Welcome to the Wake Forest Catholic Community's online home! You are invited to participate in the WFCC. We want to invite you to share in the Eucharist with us, to experience a fun and supportive community, to experience Franciscan hospitality and spirituality and to know that you are always most welcome.

Even a camera phone can capture the beauty of Wait Chapel at sunset!

The Wake Forest Catholic Community (WFCC)  is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte. One campus minister, appointed by Bishop Peter J. Jugis, serves students, faculty and staff.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for students to practice and express their Catholic Faith by providing them a "parish away from home".

Through Wake Forest Catholic Campus Ministry, students participate in Mass on campus three times each Sunday and four days during the week.  The Wake Forest Catholic Community arranges for students to do volunteer work from visiting the elderly or homeless to painting and hammering with Habitat.   We have organized dozens of national and international service trips in order to spread the Good News and to hear it from those we are privileged to serve.

Even while studying abroad in Spain, WFCC stays connected!Even while studying abroad in Spain, WFCC stays connected! Our regular campus activities include weekly dinners,  the RCIA program, Scripture study and ecumenical sharing. These activities are coordinated by the Peer Ministry Council (PMC) consisting of WFU Catholic Students from all graduation classes. Father Charles, a Conventual Franciscan Friar, is in his second year of service as Campus Minister at Wake Forest!

Perhaps you have heard of Catholic Campus Ministry at other schools where it is known as the Newman Club, or perhaps there is a Newman Center on campus or close to the campus. In our Diocese of Charlotte it is known simply as Catholic Campus Ministry.
